The Perfect Host

The Perfect Host

I love finding movies on Netflix that turn ou to be surprisingly good.  I usually find these hidden gems late at night or on Sunday evenings when there isn't too much on television.  One of the best movies that I have seen in quite a while that obviously was not a box office hit is The Perfect Host starring Frasier's David Hyde Pierce. As a matter of fact, I had never seen David Hyde Pierce on anything but Frasier.  His character Warwick Wilson is so different from his Niles character.

The movie begins with a fugitive that is on the lam from justice.  He is injured and is trying to find a suitable place to hide.  He finds himself in the home of Warwick Wilson with what he thinks is the perfect scheme.  He pretends to know a friend of Warwick's named Julia.  He finds a postcard from Julia and concocts a story from there.

The movie starts off normally enough but Warwick proves to have a few hidden secrets himself.  Talk about imaginary friends from hell!  The table turns quickly on the fugitive that crashes the dinner party.  The fugitive in the movie is far from being the good guy of the story but as the plot unravels you will find yourself feeling sorry for him.  The parties are a hoot and there are several scenes that will have you laughing out loud.

If you are into movies with strange twists and outrageous outcomes, hurry and punch this one up.  This is a five star flick in my book and definitely worth a couple of replays.
